It was *something*. If you ever get the chance to be part of a waterbirth at home……there is something magical, no..that's not the right word. Something intrinstically RIGHT and about it. Not right as in “I'm right and you're wrong” but right as in….everything is right with the world at that point. At least “the world” as it exists to the people in that room. Thank you, Emeth.

Your distinction between using texts for orienteering and for evidence is helpful. I'd add another basic distinction between primary texts and secondary texts. In general secondary texts are used for orienteering and primary texts are used for evidence, but that correlation is not absolute. I certainly agree that the tools need to be different for each use. Does bringing in the distinction between primary and secondary texts complicate that goal?
