I was at the Seattle Kingdome on March 26, 2000 when I filmed the demolition. This is one of the saddest moments of my life, as when I was a High School freshman, I played several home games at the Kingdome in 1996. I wanted to show you this video as a thank you for hitting 80000+ hits! RIP Seattle Kingdome (1976-2000) Note: This is the 1st Sports Dome Stadium ever to be torn down, and very ironic that this building only lasted 24 years!

I spent my sunday when I was a kid watching the hawks play last game I saw was seattle vs dolphins
aww this makes me sad. I had the best memories of the King Dome as a little girl. I adored the Mariners and would always be thrilled to walk around the dome. My whole family woke up at 3 am to go watch the implosion from the top of the old Amazon building (not sure if Amazon is still there.) This is something I’ll never forget.
LOL I was 10 then. and I still remember the long clean up afterwards. My moms work was covered in dust, at 5th n jackson. lol.

I saw the final four there in 1989 and while there were some great events, the building itself was a dump. The most sterile, ugly place I’ve ever watched sports, and especially bad for baseball. I’ve got memories, but I was happy to see them knock it down and build two awesome sports stadiums.
Ah…. 10 years ago today! Thanks for the video. There were some good events there: The indoor paper airplanes, Final Fours, Pele, The Seahawks in the Early/Mid 80’s, The ‘95 M’s and the Sonics winning the NBA championship.
Great memories I saw Georgetown against houston back in the day Ewing Vs olajuwon.Monsters of rock in 88 And the last Seahawks and Mariners games ever played there.Even saw Jordan and the Bulls vs the Sonics and the Celtics.I do kind of miss the place although Safeco and Quest field are very nice but the kingdome was deafening and Seahawks games.
Sad too see it go and all , I recall when it was being built , seen alot of shows their , games & concerts , madonna preformed their , I went to that concert , Long live the King !!!!! ( Dome that is ) !!!

Yeah I lived there from July 1996 to June 1997, I attended my freshman year of HS at West Seattle High and played against Bellevue in football, I love that Bellevue became a major powerhouse and sent tears in my eyes when they slammed De La Salle to snap their 151 game winning streak to pieces!
I didn’t know you lived in Seattle. I was born and raised in Bellevue and have very fond memories of the King Dome. I went to the very last concert there as well (U2).

There is a similar situation here — a structure considered by many to be one of the oldest original residences in Pennsylvania faces demolition after being entangled for years in a family struggle. Now it is beyond the “average” person's financial or DIY capacity to rehab and so most see the only option to be demolition. If you want more info, google Heidelberg Kerlin Farm. Help, support and ideas are wanted! The owner is willing to sell, rather than demolish, if a white knight riding a big wallet emerges.

New plan to solve demolition controversy

The developer of a group of Princes St, Dunedin, buildings controversially targeted for demolition has come back with a new design closely replicating the existing facades. But while the design has been described as an improvement, the Dunedin City Council's consultant architect has argued at least one of the facades should be saved from demolition, while heritage advocates argue there is no need to demolish any of the facades.
