My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf,
So it stood ninety years on the floor.
It was taller by half than the old man himself,
Though it weighed not a pennyweight more.
It was bought on the morn of the day that he was born,
And was always his treasure and pride;
But it stopped, short, never to go again
When the old man died.

CHORUS
Ninety years without slumbering, tick, tock, tick, tock,
His life seconds numbering, tick, tock, tick, tock,
It stopped, short, never to go again, when the old man died.

In watching its pendulum swing to and fro,
Many hours had he spent as a boy;
And in childhood and manhood the clock seemed to know
And to share both his grief and his joy.
For it struck twenty-four when he entered at the door
With a blooming and beautiful bride.
But it stopped, short, never to go again
When the old man died.

My grandfather said that of those he could hire,
Not a servant so faithful he found;
For it wasted no time, and had but one desire:
At the close of each week to be wound.
And it kept in its place, not a frown upon its face,
And its hands never hung by its side.
But it stopped, short, never to go again
When the old man died.

It rang in alarm in the dead of the night,
An alarm that for years had been dumb.
And we knew that his spirit was plumbing its flight,
That his hour of departure had come.
Still the clock kept the time, with a soft and muffled chime,
As we silently stood by his side
But it stopped, short, never to go again
When the old man died.

Traveling to and from work can be stressful. Traveling with children can be stressful. Traveling out of the country or on an airplane can also be stressful. To lessen your stress while you are traveling you need to prepare yourself for the trip, for where you are traveling too and you need to keep your stress levels down so you enjoy your trip for the entire time you are out traveling.

To reduce stress while traveling too and from work, leave yourself plenty of time. In allowing yourself an added fifteen minutes, you can easily reduce the stress you feel in traveling to work everyday. Reduce stress you feel so you are not in a hurry all the time. Waking up early or at least on time all the time is going to help you reduce the stress your feel daily. Reduce your stress while traveling to work by turning the radio on, and listening to some soft music, or at least music of your choice. Soothing noised music you love, is going to help you turn that stress away.

Reduce stress while traveling with children. To reduce your stress, you need to travel at night, when the children are sleeping, or bring along activities that are going to keep the children occupied while you are traveling. Videos, DVD's, board games, music and such as all great way of keeping your children occupied while you are traveling so they don't stress you out. Children can easily become bored and cranky. Make sure you are traveling in the shortest routes possible, and during the times when children are not hungry or will want to get out and move around in the sun. Traveling is easiest first thing in the morning and late in the evening.

Stress while traveling is going to be less involved, less noticed if you are to remain calm and cool while you are standing in line, standing waiting to eat, waiting to cross a bridge, waiting to get through the tunnels, even while you are waiting to check into your hotel. Be patient. Remember, you have all the time in the world; you don't have to be any where at any particular time. You are on vacation and waiting, in slow lines is all about part of being on vacation and while traveling. Take a deep breath and read your book, listen to your music, talk to your family and think about all the good things that are bound to come yet. Leave stress behind by preparing yourself mentally to wait and to be more patient.

This now continues with left hand, right leg, left leg, whole self. The
dance is easy enough for everyone including young children. In the USA
the word "hokey" can mean stupidly simple- lie we get the word
"provincial" from the Parisians' distain for country folk. However, I
don't know if the word predates the song or vice versa.

Stress is a reason why a lot of people get sick, or end up in the hospital over. They either had a nervous breakdown or did some stupid like that. To avoid this from happening to you don't let things get to you as much as you do. It is all up to you to avoid letting these types of things to happen. Stress is what a lot of people go through in their every day life.

There are a lot of ways to stop stress from happening to you or even your household. Don't worry about things until you find out for sure that if it is something to a thing to worry yourself about. Worrying about a lot of things is the main source of what causes stress.

People worry about their future a lot. You cannot sit and worry about your future while you are focusing on the presents of your life now. Also bad things that have been bothering you that happened in the past is some thing that stresses people. Think about it you did it, it was a mistake, and it is over and done with now so why let it stress you out. Just think every one in this world makes mistakes. Life is way to short to worry the whole way through it. You will not enjoy life if you worry or stress over things every day.

A good way to reduce stress at home with your kids is to do things everyday as much as possible. Fun things like going for ice cream go to a park, go to the movies, go bowling, and things that are fun like that. This will keep not only you, but also your children from getting stressed about things.

A good way to reduce stress for yourself if you do not have any kids, is to go out with friends have a good time don't think about things while your out and about. This will help to keep your mind off of things, and keep you from having a lot of stress.

There are certain times in life that there are no ways around being stressed about what is going on. Having a love one in the hospital for three months, loosing a family member, and different things like that. Those types of things are stressful, but you got other things to focus on The best thing that you could do for them people, is don't worry things will get better and pray for them.

Many people have everyday things that bother them. It may be someone at work, a money issue, and the traffic on your ride home or a loved one. No matter what the reason is, you need to deal with it and find a way to smooth your stressful situation. There are some things that you can do to help make the stress disappear and make your life fun and happy again.

Smoothing stress can be anything that you like to do. If you enjoy long evening walks alone or with a loved one, this is a great way to relieve your stress. You can enjoy this time to talk about your feelings and things that are causing stress in your life.

You can also take long rides in the country. Getting out of the house and getting some, fresh air may be what you need for a nice pick 'me up'. This is a great opportunity to take in the sights and the different atmosphere that surrounds you. You can take the drive alone or with someone special to make it wonderful romantic getaway. Plan a romantic picnic lunch for you and your special someone as well.

Taking a hot bath is something that works to smooth out any kind of stressful situation. You can take the time to fill the tub with hot water and lots of bubbles and this will give you the safe haven that you are looking for to ease out all of your stress. Light some candles for the aromatherapy that your mind needs to get it relaxed and feeling free. This will help to take away the stress and the problems that take over our body and mind.

Drink a cup of your favorite tea. You can sit back and relax with your favorite brew and enjoy a good book or watch the stars in the sky. This is a great method of relaxation that your mind and body needs to relieve the stress. You will be able to appreciate the time that you have to yourself and let your mind wander freely.

When you know how to calm your stress and your body, you will find that you can deal with more situations and the stress is not taking over your body. You will be able to break away from the cycle that stress can cause and this will bring you back to place that you want to be.

The sons of the prophet were hardy and bold,
And quite unaccustomed to fear,
But the bravest of these was a man, I am told
Named Abdul Abulbul Amir.

This son of the desert, in battle aroused,
Could spit twenty men on his spear.
A terrible creature, both sober and soused
Was Abdul Abulbul Amir.

When they needed a man to encourage the van,
Or to harass the foe from the rear,
Or to storm a redoubt, they had only to shout
For Abdul Abulbul Amir.

There are heroes aplenty and men known to fame
In the troops that were led by the Czar;
But the bravest of these was a man by the name
Of Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

He could imitate Irving, play Euchre and pool
And perform on the Spanish Guitar.
In fact, quite the cream of the Muscovite team
Was Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

The ladies all loved him, his rivals were few;
He could drink them all under the bar.
As gallant or tank, there was no one to rank
With Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

One day this bold Russian had shouldered his gun
And donned his most truculent sneer
Downtown he did go, where he trod on the toe
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir

"Young man," quoth Bulbul, "has life grown so dull,
That you're anxious to end your career?
Vile infidel! Know, you have trod on the toe
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir."

"So take your last look at the sunshine and brook
And send your regrets to the Czar;
By this I imply you are going to die,
Mr. Ivan Skavinsky Skivar."

Quoth Ivan, "My friend, your remarks, in the end,
Will avail you but little, I fear,
For you ne'er will survive to repeat them alive,
Mr. Abdul Abulbul Amir!"

Then this bold mameluke drew his trusty chibouque
With a cry of "Allah Akbar!"
And with murderous intent, he ferociously went
For Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

They parried and thrust and they side-stepped and cussed
'Till their blood would have filled a great pot.
The philologist blokes, who seldom crack jokes,
Say that hash was first made on that spot.

They fought all that night, 'neath the pale yellow moon;
The din, it was heard from afar;
And great multitudes came, so great was the fame
of Abdul and Ivan Skivar.

As Abdul's long knife was extracting the life -
In fact, he was shouting "Huzzah!" – -
He felt himself struck by that wily Kalmuck,
Count Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

The sultan drove by in his red-breasted fly,
Expecting the victor to cheer;
But he only drew nigh to hear the last sigh
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir.

Czar Petrovich, too, in his spectacles blue
Rode up in his new crested car.
He arrived just in time to exchange a last line
With Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.

A loud-sounding splash from the Danube was heard
Resounding o'er meadows afar;
It came from the sack fitting close to the back
Of Ivan Skavinsky Skovar.

There's a tomb rises up where the blue Danube flows;
Engraved there in characters clear;
"Ah stranger, when passing, please pray for the soul
Of Abdul Abulbul Amir."

A Muscovite maiden her lone vigil keeps,
'Neath the light of the pale polar star;
And the name that she murmurs as oft as she weeps
Is Ivan Skavinsky Skivar.
