repainted the existing dirty dingy old broken looking red stone fireplace white, then with lovely brown paper bag wall colors. This treatment cost less than for materials. Cracks patched with fireplace stone fill. This is a very easy technique and we did it in about an hour and 1/2.

First thoroughly clean the stone or brick – it should have no grease, it should feel dry. Then spackle and fill with heat resistant spackle. Let dry. Touch up.

Prime with paint. Paint the base coat a color such as the paper bag brown used here.

While that is still a little tacky, using an old brush, dry brush on paint and work it into the high peaks of the stone or brickwork.. We used a darker, red brown to achieve this effect. The same color was used on the entire back wall of this room. See related photos to the right in the Wonderlane photostream.

This is a very easy technique in two steps that completely transformed this fireplace, gives great results and is cheap cheap cheap! Notice that the curtains are the same color as the fireplace to lend a calm feeling, and adds more texture at the same time.

There are many other monuments to Seattle, or "Sealth" or "See-Aath" alternatively, in his namesake city. These include: a bust overlooking a pool at Seattle University, Sealth High School, a strong statue of him speaking near Seattle Center with the Space Needle looming overhead, the Sealth Vista building on Capitol Hill, and the official seal of the City of Seattle, which has been Chief Seattle’s profile since 1937. There are also monuments in the area, including over his grave in Suquamish, where every year in August a Chief Seattle Days celebration has traditional dancing, dinners, and canoe races.

Seattle is widely cited as a great speaker. Chief among his quotations, from 1854: "Man did not weave the web of life – he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

Change Ringing Tower Bells are featured on this podcast. The inaugural ceremony and ring took place on May 31, 2008.
